Living in large family groups, usually consisting of a stallion and a harem of females, zebra are often seen in the company of herds of other animal species.
They are timid creatures and are continuously anxious about the possible presence of lion.
Their camouflage is designed to make them difficult to discern whilst in dappled forest shadow.
Burchell's Zebra differs from the Mountain Zebra in that its markings extend right around the body.
