The white rhino is a grazer whilst the black variety is a "browser". 
Though they don't have incisor teeth, the bulkier white rhino uses its touch-sensitive moveable upper lip to crop grass to within a centimetre of the ground, whilst the black rhino is able to feel for the leaves amongst the tree branches.
The elongated upper lip browsing black rhino needs a good supply of trees and shrubs, and is dependent on surface water for drinking, and wallowing which helps to keep it cool and also rid itself of parasites.

The black variety in particular is very temperamental in character and great care has to be taken when walking a trail in its domain.
All Rhino should be treated with great respect for when threatened they can be really dangerous.

Despite their bulk, rhino are agile creatures and can change direction quickly, even when charging at fifty kilometres an hour.
