Petrified Forest

Well marked by signs along the C39 road.

Declared a National Monument in the 1950s, today it is a National Heritage Site.
The fossilized tree trunks are believed to be 240-300 million years old, and are actually driftwood logs that had been taken down by a westward flowing river and deposited in the area.
About 50 remnants of trees can be seen here, often mistaken for logs.
